Reeve Bot - Future Ideas & Explorations¶
This document tracks nascent-stage ideas that are still being explored and have not yet made it into the formal roadmap. Think of this as a sandbox for potential features, improvements, and architectural experiments.
Categorization¶
Ideas are loosely categorized by theme. As ideas mature, they will migrate to the Future Roadmap section of the README.

Multi-Model Ensemble¶
- Concept: Use different Claude models for different tasks (Haiku for triage, Sonnet for execution, Opus for strategic planning)
- Benefits: Cost optimization, speed improvements for routine tasks
- Questions: How to route tasks? How to maintain coherence across model switches?
Self-Reflection Loop¶
- Concept: Periodic "meta-sessions" where Reeve reviews its own diary and identifies patterns in user behavior or its own mistakes
- Benefits: Continuous improvement without manual feedback loops
- Questions: How often? What triggers reflection? How to avoid recursive loops?
Goal Decomposition Engine¶
- Concept: Automatic breakdown of high-level goals (e.g., "Get fit for snowboarding season") into actionable tasks with dependencies
- Benefits: Reduced user burden in task planning
- Questions: How to handle ambiguity? How to learn user's decomposition preferences?

Smart Batching¶
- Concept: Group similar low-priority tasks (e.g., "Reply to 3 non-urgent emails") and propose batch processing sessions
- Benefits: Reduce context switching, improve focus
- Questions: What constitutes "similar"? How to detect optimal batch timing?
Conditional Pulses¶
- Concept: Pulses that only fire if certain conditions are met (e.g., "Wake up only if flight price drops below $500")
- Benefits: More efficient resource usage, better user experience
- Questions: Where to store conditions? How to evaluate them efficiently?
Parallel Task Execution¶
- Concept: Allow Reeve to spawn multiple concurrent Hapi sessions for independent tasks
- Benefits: Faster execution of multi-threaded workflows
- Questions: Session isolation? Resource limits? How to merge results?

- Concept: Voice-based interaction via local STT/TTS or cloud services
- Benefits: Hands-free operation, accessibility

- Concept: Push notifications to smartwatch, biometric data as context (sleep quality, heart rate)
- Benefits: Better awareness of user state, context-aware scheduling
- Questions: Which wearables? Data privacy? How to interpret biometric signals?
Calendar Intelligence Layer¶
- Concept: Beyond read/write accessβpredict meeting overruns, suggest reschedules based on energy patterns

- Concept: Optional encryption of the Desk repository at rest
- Benefits: Protection of sensitive personal data
- Questions: Key management? Performance impact? Compatibility with Git?
Audit Trail¶
- Concept: Immutable log of all Reeve actions (messages sent, files edited, API calls)
- Benefits: Trust, debugging, compliance
- Questions: Storage requirements? How long to retain? Privacy implications?

Natural Language Desk Editing¶
- Concept: Instead of manually editing markdown, use conversational commands ("Add 'Learn pottery' to my goals")
- Benefits: Lower barrier to entry, more natural interaction
- Questions: How to preserve user's markdown formatting preferences? Risk of accidental overwrites?
Visual Dashboard¶
- Concept: Optional web UI showing Desk structure, pulse schedule, recent actions
- Benefits: Better overview, easier onboarding
- Questions: Maintenance burden? Conflicts with "terminal-first" philosophy?
Contextual Interruptions¶
- Concept: Instead of binary DND, allow context-aware interruptions (e.g., "Interrupt only if urgent AND related to current project")
- Benefits: Better attention management
- Questions: How to define context? How to evaluate urgency?

- Concept: Infer user emotional state from message tone, response latency, word choice
- Benefits: Better coaching, burnout prevention

- Concept: Machine learning model to predict when user will need something (e.g., "Usually checks flight prices on Tuesdays")
- Benefits: Anticipatory assistance
- Questions: Data requirements? How to avoid creepiness? Overfitting to past behavior?
Collaborative Reeve¶
- Concept: Multi-user Reeve instances that can delegate tasks to each other (e.g., user's Reeve coordinates with spouse's Reeve for family scheduling)
- Benefits: Household coordination
- Questions: Privacy boundaries? Authentication? Conflict resolution?
